£24m man should be back in Chelsea's line-up tomorrow, he's only started two of the last six games - TCC View
Marcos Alonso is a player that should be back in the Chelsea line-up tomorrow.
For Chelsea, they’re preparing for Wednesday’s semi-final against Al Hilal in the Club World Cup.
The Blues go in search of winning FIFA’s Club World Cup tournament for the first time, as they compete against other club giants from across the globe.
Alonso, who’s only started two of the last six games across all competitions, should be recalled to the XI.
The £24million defender didn’t start in the weekend’s FA Cup tie against Plymouth Argyle, but did come off the bench to score the winning goal in extra-time. He showed tremendously good movement in the box before tucking in a finish on his weaker right foot.
Yes, the full-back isn’t always the most switched on defensively. He does bring a unique attacking threat when he plays, though.
Alonso needs Chelsea return
Malang Sarr’s had some opportunities lately at left-back in the Chelsea team, but a few nervy moments have started to appear in his game.
Alonso’s been in and out of the starting line-up during the past month, something which must have been very frustrating for him.
The left wing-back is the main replacement for injured teammate Ben Chilwell, so it’s fairly damning that he’s not been able to nail down the starting XI position for every game.
He should be a go-to man tomorrow in an important semi-final against Al Hilal, though.
The Chelsea Chronicle predicts the 31-year-old will be promoted to the starting line-up during Wednesday’s 4:30pm kick-off.
Everyone is still waiting for star centre-forward Romelu Lukaku to burst into his best form, so it’s a case of spreading the goals across the team right now.
