Chelsea progressed to the Europa League final after beating Eintracht Frankfurt on penalties – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter hailed Ruben Loftus-Cheek for his performance.

The Blues drew 1-1 on the night at Stamford Bridge and that sent the game to penalties, with Eden Hazard scoring the decisive spot-kick.

After drawing 1-1 out in Germany during the first leg, Chelsea returned home and went in front through Loftus-Cheek’s opener.

The England international brilliantly curled his effort into the bottom corner after being assisted from teammate Hazard.

But a strong Frankfurt outfit did fight back and took the game to penalties due to a goal from highly-rated striker Luka Jovic.

Maurizio Sarri kept his ambition alive of winning a piece of silverware during his first season in charge and they will meet London rivals Arsenal in the Europa League final.

A selection of Blues fans feel that Loftus-Cheek was the standout player on Thursday.

The 23-year-old has now scored 10 goals across all competitions and looks a key first-team player.

He was taken off in the 86th minute much to the disgruntlement of some fans, but has really stepped up his game in recent months and playing some of his best football for the club.
