Chelsea fans certainly go into every new season with real excitement, but it does feel like there is something special happening at the club right now and expectations are large going into the 2020/21 Premier League campaign.

Blues manager Frank Lampard has had a year to settle at Stamford Bridge and achieved a top-four finish in the league, which was a real success considering the transfer ban looming over the club.

But Chelsea have gone big this summer with some marquee signings and on paper it looks like a squad destined to score goals for fun.

In the previous 10 league seasons no Chelsea team has scored more in the league than the 85 that Antonio Conte’s side netted in the 2016/17 title-winning campaign.

It was a fabulous year that saw the side scored goals at a canter with the likes of Diego Costa, Eden Hazard and Pedro heavily involved, but perhaps this current group of players are equipped to try chase down that record.

Chelsea have exciting new signings Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner added to their frontline, which already consists of the likes of Christian Pulisic, Tammy Abraham, Olivier Giroud and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

There is some real attacking firepower available to Lampard and each individual has shown they are capable of magic, plus the majority of the are young upcoming stars who are nowhere near their full potential.

It looks like Lampard is trying to edge Chelsea towards a team that play expansive football, are easy on the eye and score plenty of goals, so it’s going to be interesting to see how they perform as an attacking unit in the new Premier League season.
