Graham Potter makes three changes: Chelsea predicted XI vs Crystal Palace

Chelsea are back in Premier League action this afternoon with a very important game at home to Crystal Palace.

The Chelsea Chronicle has attempted a predicted Blues line-up that Graham Potter may field later on at Stamford Bridge, which includes three changes from the previous result.

Potter’s side were beaten 2-1 away to Fulham on Thursday night, leaving them 10th in the league table at the time.

Predicted Chelsea line-up against Crystal Palace

There’s going to be real scrutiny when Potter releases his team sheet for Sunday’s 2pm kick-off at home to Palace.

It might not count for anything when the whistle blows, but Chelsea have a fantastic record of 11 consecutive wins against today’s opponents.

In our view, Potter may stick with a back three after bringing the system back recently. There’s a couple of forced changes in this predicted XI, as well as a tactical switch.

GK and Defence

Kepa Arrizabalaga, who’s made a couple of mistakes recently, is likely to start as the goalkeeper again.

The experience of Thiago Silva and Kalidou Koulibaly could make up two-thirds of the defence, with their know-how vital in what feels like a must-win game against Palace.

The first of three changes may see Marc Cucurella replacing Trevoh Chalobah at the back.

Midfield

In our view, Cesar Azpilicueta and Lewis Hall could provide the width again as Chelsea’s wing-backs.

It’s a real blend of old and young with the Azpilicueta-Hall combination, which will need to be brave on the ball to enjoy success against Palace.

Mateo Kovacic should line up again in the centre of the park. He could get a new midfield partner, though.

With Denis Zakaria forced off injured on Thursday against Fulham, £50million star Jorginho could come into the side to form a familiar pivot.

Attack

With Joao Felix missing Sunday through suspension, it does leave a gap at the top end of the pitch.

Ian Wright raved about the on-loan Atletico Madrid attacker after his Chelsea debut against Fulham, but he’ll now serve a three-game suspension due to the red card he received.

In our view, Hakim Ziyech may get a recall to the line-up for another chance to try impress. That would mean Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Carney Chukwuemeka being overlooked again, though.

The team is is completed with Mason Mount and Kai Havertz.
