Armando Broja may be one player on Chelsea’s books that is secretly delighted by what’s unfolding this week at the club with regards to Romelu Lukaku.
Broja, 20, is a Blues-owned star that’s currently making a big impression out on loan with Premier League rivals Southampton this season.
The Albania international, who’s a product of the Chelsea academy, has six goals in 17 Saints appearances so far this campaign.
He seems a natural already at Premier League level and the centre-forward is proving a real handful for opposition defenders with his physical presence.
If he’s to make a first-team breakthrough at Stamford Bridge, he’s got the obvious obstacle of £97.5million Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku in front of him.
However, developments this week should leave Broja licking his lips.
Chelsea door creeps open for Broja?
It’s still very early days, but Broja may have been given some encouragement that Chelsea’s number nine role may be up for grabs some time soon.
Lukaku’s been under-fire from some Blues supporters after comments made by him this month came to light.
Basically, the 28-year-old forward explained why he’s “not very happy” with his current position in Thomas Tuchel’s squad. Also, he mentioned the fact he’d love to return to ex-club Inter Milan at some stage in the future.
Broja has to take some encouragement from Lukaku’s comments.
Of course, Chelsea loanee Broja still has so much to prove to suggest he can break into Tuchel’s team.
However, he’s ticking so many boxes already with the way he’s now performing in England’s top division.
It’s going to be very interesting to see how he performs in light of the Lukaku news and he’s definitely a youngster that Chelsea fans like.
