Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick has praised Chelsea manager Frank Lampard and his young team ahead of Saturday’s Champions League match.

Playing the second leg at home, with three away goals from the first-leg win at Stamford Bridge back in February, Bayern are on course to qualify for the quarter-finals.

They would surely aim for a treble, having already won the domestic double with the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal this season.

While for Chelsea, things could have been better had they won the FA Cup final last week.

Given their summer transfer ban, Bayern manager Flick said Lampard has impressed him, including the way Chelsea have played this season.

Speaking in the press conference today, Flick said (via Bayern’s official website): “Frank Lampard is doing an outstanding job and has led the team into the Champions League.

“I really liked them, including the way they played football.

“It wasn’t an easy situation but they played a strong season. I think Chelsea can be very happy with him.”

The Bayern boss also praised Chelsea’s young team, although he claimed that he has information about them.

“We already have all the information about the Chelsea players,” he said. “They have a very good team across the board.

“I know English football, including the youth field. What they have done for excellent youth work in England is fantastic.

“Chelsea can match up with young players who have the potential to play for this team.”

While Manuel Neuer refuses to get carried away with their 3-0 advantage from the first leg.

“In general, we cannot take games lightly,” the goalkeeper said about the upcoming second leg.

“We know that we have a good starting position. But it’s a new start.

“Accordingly, we want to start well, beat Chelsea and confirm the good performance from the first leg.”
