Chelsea welcome Bayern Munich to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night for a major Champions League fixture – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have claimed they want to see defender Fikayo Tomori recalled to the starting XI.

Frank Lampard’s side beat rivals Tottenham 2-1 in the league at the weekend and have been preparing for the visit of Bayern.

The Blues are considered underdogs for the Champions League last-16 tie, but a positive result in the first leg at home should put them in a good position for the second leg on 18 March.

After a switch to a 3-4-3 formation against Spurs and an impressive performance, all eyes are on Lampard to see his team selection against Bayern.

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media are rallied to try get Tomori back in the side.

The 22-year-old hasn’t featured in a single league match since December, with his only minutes in this calendar year coming in the FA Cup.   

But the English centre-back has played 21 senior games across all competitions this campaign and played in the opening four Champions League group stage matches.

He’s seen Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen leapfrog him in the pecking order recently, while there is Kurt Zouma too waiting for his chance.

Versatile Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta slotted in as a third centre-back against Spurs, but many are suggesting the pace and athleticism of Tomori would be helpful against a dangerous opponent in Bayern.
