Chelsea welcome Bayern Munich to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night for a major Champions League fixture – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have claimed they want to see defender Fikayo Tomori recalled to the starting XI.
Frank Lampard’s side beat rivals Tottenham 2-1 in the league at the weekend and have been preparing for the visit of Bayern.
The Blues are considered underdogs for the Champions League last-16 tie, but a positive result in the first leg at home should put them in a good position for the second leg on 18 March.
After a switch to a 3-4-3 formation against Spurs and an impressive performance, all eyes are on Lampard to see his team selection against Bayern.
A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media are rallied to try get Tomori back in the side.
The 22-year-old hasn’t featured in a single league match since December, with his only minutes in this calendar year coming in the FA Cup.
But the English centre-back has played 21 senior games across all competitions this campaign and played in the opening four Champions League group stage matches.
He’s seen Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen leapfrog him in the pecking order recently, while there is Kurt Zouma too waiting for his chance.
Versatile Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta slotted in as a third centre-back against Spurs, but many are suggesting the pace and athleticism of Tomori would be helpful against a dangerous opponent in Bayern.
Here are some Blues fans with the Tomori suggestion:
Chelsea absolutely have to start with a 3-4-3 tomorrow against Bayern.
Play a back 3 of Tomori – Rudiger – Christensen/Azpilicueta.
Tomori must play tomorrow. If Chelsea want to deal with Alphonso Davies’s speed effectively, playing Tomori is of utmost importance.

Bayern will be expecting us to play a 343. It suits Alonso but I think we need Azpi on the LWB, Reese on RWB. Bring in Tomori for stability. Willian or Barkley – take your pick. Giroud needed – he played a strong target man. #CFC #CHEBAY #ChelseaFC

If we play a 3 at the back tomorrow I would put Tomori over Azpi for his pace as that’s where Bayern are most Dangerous. Gnarby/Koeman with Davies pace over lapping will be a problem.

I want 3 changes in the team against Bayern. Kepa has to come in, William for Barkley (even though Barkley played his heart out) and tomori has to start ahead of rudiger

Upset that Tomori probably won’t play, but this is probably the most realistic line-up
