Chelsea fans wowed by Reece James performance against Porto

Chelsea recorded a brilliant win over Porto on Wednesday night – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter were wowed by the individual performance of their star Reece James.

The Blues beat Portuguese opposition Porto 2-0 in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.

Despite the fact the two-legged tie is being played at a neutral venue, Thomas Tuchel’s side were the away side and therefore netted two potentially vital away goals.

Mason Mount scored a superb goal in the first half, as he turned superbly and fired in a low finish to the bottom corner.

After dealing with some Porto pressure in the second period, Chelsea grabbed a second when unlikely goalscorer Ben Chilwell rounded the goalkeeper in the 85th minute to tap into an empty net.

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media gave their academy graduate James huge credit for his performance.

The 21-year-old right wing-back was a monster defensively one-on-one against the Porto threat, and had a couple of bright moments pushing forward as well into space.

He’s certainly done himself no harm as he tries to prove to England manager Gareth Southgate he should be the starting right-back this summer at the European Championships.

Tuchel’s side are now in control of the European quarter-final, as they look to get the job done in the return leg next week.
