A section of Chelsea supporters on social media believed that Andreas Christensen will start against Real Madrid because he is up for the pre-match press conference.

Nizaar Kinsella confirmed that Christensen would be speaking to the media ahead of the European tie tomorrow night.

Blues fans felt this was an indication that the 25-year-od would be involved from the off at Stamford Bridge.

Here’s how they reacted on Twitter:

Before Thomas Tuchel took over, it wouldn’t have been unfathomable that Christensen would even be considered to start in a Champions League semi-final.

Fast track to present day, it’s difficult to overlook him as one of the first names on Chelsea’s team sheet.

He really matured during the absence of Thiago Silva and hasn’t dropped his levels following the Brazilian’s recovery.

It’s a signal of Christensen’s improvement that he might keep out Silva for the club’s biggest game of the season on Wednesday evening.

Another indication of the Danish defender’s development is the suggestion he may be offered a new contract soon.

The player himself admitted he ‘was here for the long run’, but no official talks have yet progressed over an extension.

Help guide his side into a final and it shouldn’t be long before Christensen commits his long-term future to Chelsea.

Never would I have thought that picking the best back three could have been this tricky.

Whoever is left out will feel they shouldn’t be and rightly so.

Personally, I’d go for Christensen, Antonio Rudiger and Silva, but that means leaving out Cesar Azpilicueta.

Unless you play the skipper at wing-back, which I don’t think suits him or Chelsea’s play.

I’ll leave the tricky decisions to you, Thomas.
