A lot of Chelsea supporters on social media demanded that Reece James start tonight so he can try and contain Eden Hazard.

According to the Telegraph, Hazard will feature from the off against his former side in the Champions League semi-final this evening.

Blues fans felt James would be best placed to control Real Madrid’s injury ridden no.7.

Here’s how they responded on Twitter:

Hazard is set to play at Stamford Bridge for the first time since his move to Madrid in 2019.

His time in Spain has been full of struggles and suffering, but could put that all behind him if he knocks Chelsea out of the competition.

The Blues won’t want to see their beloved superstar shine in South West London and will do everything in their powers to stop him.

This may mean using James in a prominent role at right-wing back, the area of the pitch Hazard usually operates in.

James began on the bench in the first leg, with Cesar Azpilicueta resuming the role at wing-back.

As did Hazard until the 66th minute, the exact time that Thomas Tuchel decided to substitute the skipper and bring on his younger teammate.

Tuchel might use similar tactics today but from the first whistle rather than on the hour.

While Hazard may be past the peak of his powers, he can still pack a punch, so Chelsea must be on their guard when the Belgian is in possession.

Although Azpilicueta has the experience, James is far more suited to the speed and strength of European showdowns.
