Ashley Cole did not shy away from admitting he wanted Mason Mount to get a goal for Chelsea against Real Madrid in the Champions League tomorrow night.

Speaking on an Instagram live with Supersporttv, Cole was discussing his former club’s chances of reaching this year’s finale.

Chelsea and Madrid finished the first leg with a 1-1 draw, thanks to excellent solo efforts from Christian Pulisic and Karim Benzema.

Thomas Tuchel’s team have the crucial goal away going into the standoff at Stamford Bridge and Cole admitted he would like to see Mount add to that advantage.

He said: “The momentum is going Chelsea’s way. They’ve played really well. Key players are playing well.

“Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic, hopefully he can produce some magic again.

“Defensively they’ve been stronger and better. They don’t give up too many opportunities now, where they did probably six or seven months ago.

“Hopefully we can get a Mason Mount goal or a Christian Pulisic goal again.”

Cole has never hidden his love for Mount and that admiration would sky rocket if he managed to foil Madrid.

The 22-year-old is in sparkling form this season, scoring eight times and providing eight assists in 48 appearances.

His worth to Chelsea cannot be understated, as he continues to prove his importance in the biggest occasions.

There aren’t many more significant matches in the Blues history than the upcoming clash with Madrid.

Reaching a Champions League final for just the third time would be some achievement, especially considering the short space of time Tuchel has turn things around in.

But nothing is given in this game and with Zinedine Zidane’s record in this competition, the La Liga champions simply cannot be ruled out yet.
