Jason Cundy singled out Chelsea frontman Olivier Giroud for his individual display on Tuesday night in the Champions League, as he proved the difference for his side to secure an eye-catching result.
The Blues striker scored the winner in a 1-0 victory against Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the last 16 tie.
Thomas Tuchel’s side have the advantage of a 1-0 scoreline and an away goal to take back to Stamford Bridge for the second leg.
Giroud produced a fantastic piece of skill to score with an acrobatic bicycle kick in the second half.
The £110,000-a-week (Spotrac) centre-forward was back in the XI to lead the line and it’s not the first time in his career he’s scored in spectacular style.
Cundy was left raving about the 34-year-old after his Champions League performance.
“What a brilliant finish from him, instinctive, he is a brilliant striker as showed over the years,” Cundy told talkSPORT.
“He’s not prolific as a striker, but he’s scored some big goals for Chelsea and that’s right up there. Brilliantly taken. He’s up against one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

Giroud remains one of the most underrated players in world football, as he once again popped up with a huge moment on the European stage.
He’s now the second-joint highest goalscorer in this season’s Champions League competition on six goals, with Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland the only man to score more.
The Frenchman isn’t a nailed-on starter in the Blues XI and manager Tuchel has the options to rotate, but perhaps he’s the one he can trust most to cope with the elite fixtures.
