'Monster': Some Chelsea fans loved 'incredible' player who won three aerial duels vs Atletico

Chelsea fans absolutely adored Kai Havertz’s elegant performance against Atletico Madrid last night.

Thomas Tuchel arguably enjoyed his finest moment as Blues manager following his side’s 1-0 Champions League win over Diego Simeone’s soft Madrid.

Havertz played through as a false striker once again and demonstrated some of his dazzling talents that have been too infrequent at Stamford Bridge this season.

His overall display earned a hearty response from the Chelsea faithful.

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

Every single Chelsea player earned their individual plaudits yesterday, as well as recognition for their terrific effort as a collective.

This started from the front through Havertz.

The £140,000-a-week (Spotrac) superstar not only looked pretty on the eye in possession, he also got stuck in with the dirtier side of his job.

According to WhoScored.com, Havertz won three aerial duels, completed four clearances and made one interception.

But his best work was saved in the offensive third, where he often skipped past Madrid defenders like whispers in the London air.

He was also involved in the games opening goal, playing a perfect pass into the path of Timo Werner, who in turn set up Hakim Ziyech to score.

Chelsea’s German international is going through something of a resurrection.

Not since December has he started three consecutive games in a row and none at the level of consistency now being demonstrated.

Everyone associated with the Blues will hope this a dawn of a new Havertz era. They have been waiting long enough.

Well that was certainly the best I’ve seen of Kai in a Chelsea jersey.

His touch, his movement, his confidence. Everything we associated with him at Bayer Leverkusen was back.

Long may it continue.
