Some Real Madrid fans are celebrating today’s news that they will face Chelsea in the next stage of the Champions League.

The Champions League’s quarter-final draw took place on Friday morning, with the two-legged ties scheduled to begin next month.

For Chelsea, they’ve got a repeat of last year’s quarter-final draw by facing defending European champions Madrid. The only difference is the second leg will this time be played at Stamford Bridge, though.

Graham Potter’s side look like underdogs in this season’s European campaign due to their poor domestic form, but the stars do sometimes align in this competition for the spectacular to happen.

If the Blues upset the Spanish giants in the quarters, Manchester City or Bayern Munich will be waiting in the semi-finals.

On paper, this definitely looks like one of the tougher draws for the Blues.

The other half of the Champions League draw looks a lot more appetising with one of Napoli, AC Milan, Inter Milan or Benfica heading for the final.

Madrid dismantled Liverpool 6-2 on aggregate in the previous round and are European specialists. But it’s worth pointing out they’re nine points adrift of Barcelona in La Liga this season.
