Saul Niguez now reacts on Twitter after Chelsea's defeat to Real Madrid
Saul Niguez has claimed on Twitter he’s “really proud” of his Chelsea teammates after their Champions League performance earlier in the week.
The dust is beginning to settle on an epic encounter in the Champions League quarter-finals.
Unfortunately, the Blues ended up on the wrong end of a 5-4 aggregate scoreline against Madrid, who will now face Manchester City in the semi-finals.
Thomas Tuchel’s side were truly brilliant on Tuesday night at the Bernabeu, though.
Chelsea overturned a 3-1 deficit from the first leg to take the game to extra-time, but Madrid superstar Karim Benzema had the last word with his winning goal to inflict defeat on last season’s European champions.
Blues midfielder Saul, 27, has now reacted on Twitter to the Champions League thriller.
In addition, 23-year-old Chelsea defender Malang Sarr has echoed Saul’s words with a message on his Instagram story.
Chelsea must take confidence
Yes, Tuesday ended in real disappointment out in Spain.
However, the Blues team played some of their best football of the season and led Madrid 3-1 at the Bernabeu after 90 minutes of action.
It’s now time to try kick on and take momentum into this Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final against rivals Crystal Palace.
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel may need to consider using the depth of his squad at the weekend, as several players left everything out on the pitch on Tuesday during a gruelling120 minutes.
