Sevilla attacking midfielder Suso has warned his teammates about Chelsea’s rapid attacking transitions as he looks forward to his return to Stamford Bridge.
Tonight will see a clash between the two favourites to qualify from Group E of the Champions League.
Both teams will want to bounce back after dropping points from their respective league games on Saturday. Sevilla lost 1-0 to Granada while Chelsea were held 3-3 by Southampton.
Suso, who joined Sevilla permanently this summer after an 18-month loan deal from AC Milan, has urged his teammates to be wary of the pace of Chelsea’s attack.
He said during the pre-match press conference (via Estadio Deportivo): “With so many games, there is no time to think. We did look at the failures, what we did wrong.
“Facing Chelsea we must be aware of the transitions because they are fast up front.
“We must be focused since the first minutes, press hard and have the ball.”
Tonight will be the first time Suso has played against Chelsea since his Liverpool days between 2012 and 2015. And he’s eager to show Sevilla are more than just “Europa League specialists”.
Talking about Stamford Bridge, he said: “It’s a very beautiful pitch.
“After eight years, you are excited to step on it again. There are things that I did not remember.
“It is an important game that we face with enthusiasm. We want to show we can do great things in the Champions League.”
