Edouard Mendy heaped praise upon the effort, energy, and excellence of his Chelsea college, N’Golo Kante.

Speaking to L’Equipe, Mendy was asked to comment on Chelsea’s French stars before they embark on their European Championship journey.

Olivier Giroud, Kurt Zouma, and Kante are all part of Didier Deschamps’ squad, with the latter earning high praise from his club goalkeeper.

“He is someone who does not like being in the light and receiving praise but he is essential in a team,” said Mendy when speaking about Kante.

“The work he does in the field is just amazing. He is truly a complete player, the 2.0 player par excellence.”

It is difficult to argue with Mendy’s compliments following the season Kante has just completed.

The second half of the campaign, to be more precise.

Whilst Chelsea as a whole were rejuvenated following Thomas Tuchel’s arrival, their mini-midfielder discovered an extra spark.

He went from strength to strength as the Champions League progressed, earning man-of-the-match awards in both semis and the final.

Kante also contributed to some big Premier League scalps, including the 1-0 win away to Liverpool in March.

There have been cries 30-year-old to be nominated for the Ballon d’Or.

After decades of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi dominance, the door might now be opened for a new prince to take their crown.

Being victorious at the Euros wouldn’t hurt Kante’s course in the slightest.
