Barcelona are set to make a late bid for Chelsea winger Willian. Sky Sports have reported that the Spanish club is readying a £20 million bid for the 31-year-old – and some Blues fans have reacted to the news on Twitter.
It is the latest in a number of approaches from Barcelona for the Brazilian. In 2018, they made several bids to Chelsea in an attempt to secure his services but saw them all rejected.
Willian has been at Stamford Bridge since 2013 and has made 322 appearances for the Blues. He has been one of the club’s best and most reliable players of the decade and could easily be seen as a Chelsea legend. Despite some dips in form in recent years, the former Shakhtar man has been revitalized under Lampard this season.
He has made 30 appearances for the club already, scoring five goals and also providing five assists. His end product and decision making have been much better and the club would miss him if he left in the middle of the season.
His vast experience could prove vital in the development of young wingers Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic. As the season enters its final stages, the need for players with previous involvement in big games becomes more important.
Losing Willian would hurt Chelsea’s attacking force, an area they are already struggling in. However, £20 million for a 31-year-old player with just six months left on his contract is a tempting offer. Some Chelsea fans feel that it’s the Brazilian’s time to move on, whilst others are just amused that Barcelona remain determined to secure his services.
Here is some of the reaction on Twitter:
Barcelona offering 20 mil for Willian?. I’ll drive him to the airport free of charge if he needs.

This transfer window would’ve been incomplete if Barcelona hadn’t made a bid for Willian 😂😂😂

This Willian news is crazy, Lampard must be fuming. To potentially lose him at this stage is craziness. But the offer is too big and he leaves in 6months for free
It’s gonna be a mad last few days https://t.co/93PB3CYZF5

How can I complain if we sell Willian and buy Mertens?
