Chelsea could turn their interest to Roma goalkeeper Alisson, should Thibaut Courtois leave the club this summer. The Belgian’s future is unclear at the moment, with contract talks on hold, and Courtois expressing an interest to return to Madrid – the city where his children live. This has sparked interest from Real Madrid, and the Spanish side could make a move for him. This could prompt the Blues into signing Alisson as a replacement. Liverpool have also been linked with the Brazillian, so a bidding war between two sides could commence this summer.
Enrique Wage Demands
Any potential move for Luis Enrique could be scuppered due to the Spaniard’s wage demands, reports have claimed. In recent weeks, Enrique has been widely reported as the Blues’ number one choice as manager, should Antonio Conte leave the club at the end of the season. The club are not willing to match the £16.5 million he was being paid at Barcelona, opening the door for other candidates to be considered. The likes of Thomas Tuchel and Maurizio Sarri could have a better chance of being appointed, as they are more likely to accept a lower wage than Enrique.
Chelsea are set to test the uncertainty over the future of Toby Alderweireld with an offer this summer, according to reports. The Belgian reportedly has a £25 million release clause in his contract which would become active in the summer of 2019, and could leave Tottenham on a cheap deal if they do not agree terms on a new deal. It’s not just Chelsea who are interested in the defender. Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Manchester United are also keen on Alderweireld, who has 18 months left on his current contract. A deal involving Chelsea and Tottenham might be hard to negotiate, but the Blues could wait to trigger the release clause next year.
