Garth Crooks believes that Edouard Mendy is improving with every game in a Chelsea shirt.
The Blues signed Mendy last summer in a £22million deal (Sky Sports) from French club Rennes, and it’s turned out to be an absolute bargain transfer.
Mendy, 29, has taken to the Premier League so effortlessly during his first year in English football. The goalkeeper has 24 clean sheets in 41 appearances for the club across all competitions so far.
He saved a penalty during the weekend’s 2-1 league win over Manchester City, and is growing in stature.
BBC pundit Crooks, who included Mendy in his latest edition of Premier League Team of the Week, has stated that the colossus goalkeeper keeps getting better.
“If you are going to go for the Panenka penalty then I strongly suggest you don’t do it against a goalkeeper who is 6ft 4in,” he wrote for BBC Sport.
“Edouard Mendy, who is getting better with every game, went to his right but due to his wing span put his arm down to correct his movement and was practically upright.

Mendy has been racking up the clean sheets at a rapid rate, something which is always going to give his side more chance to win games.
It’s obvious he’s got a massive presence at the back with the way he commands his box.
He’s helped breathe confidence into the defence in front of him, and in recent games has started pulling off eye-catching saves to show he’s not a flash in the pan.
If he can keep up his form from now until the end of the season, Chelsea can still hope to finish it with two trophies.
