Ben Chilwell has revealed he had a conversation with Hakim Ziyech about their ambitions at Chelsea in which they both agreed on the amount of talent in the Blues’ squad.

It is interesting to hear the pair have become close despite the short time they have been together at Chelsea.

Ziyech joined the Blues in June, while Chigwell only had his first group training session with the rest of his new teammates a couple days ago.

Such camaraderie is good to see, particularly since Chilwell said one of the things he shares with Ziyech is their ambition to help Chelsea scoop major honours.

He told Chelsea’s official website: “I was chatting to Hakim (Ziyech) about it and we were both saying, with the squad we have now, over the next few years we should be getting to cup finals and challenging for the league every year.

“I think that’s why we’ve come here – because we’re both confident that can be the case.”

The England international feels he is at the stage where he needs to win silverware and his move to Stamford Bridge is an opportunity to achieve it.

“I’m 23. I’m not at the age any more where I’m happy just to be playing,” he said.

“I want to be in a team that wins things.

“When I come to the end of my career, I want to have won everything there is to win. I think at this club we can do that.”

Chilwell and Ziyech are still recovering from an Achilles and knee injury respectively, which has prevented them from making their competitive Chelsea debut.

That time is close, though, and the fans certainly can’t wait to see them on the pitch together.
