Cesc Fabregas sent a message on Twitter about Chelsea loanee Ethan Ampdu during his Champions League performance on Wednesday night.
The 19-year-old was loaned out from Stamford Bridge this season by the Blues and sent to German club RB Leipzig to help his development.
He made just his seventh appearance of the season across all competitions on Wednesday, but he certainly seized his opportunity with a composed display at centre-back.
The Wales international completed 90 minutes for Bundesliga outfit Leipzig, who managed to record a 1-0 away win over Tottenham in the first leg of a Champions League last-16 tie.
Ampadu looked assured in the middle of a back three against Spurs, which is even more impressive considering his lack of first-team football this season.
Former Chelsea favourite Fabregas posted about the Blues teenager during the first-half between Leipzig and Spurs, claiming it’s excellent to see him on the big stage.
“Great seeing Ethan Ampadu starting and playing in such a big games. Good to see him a better haircut as well,” Fabregas wrote on his personal Twitter account.
Ampadu certainly did his reputation on harm with an excellent display in midweek and hopefully that leads to more minutes for Leipzig.
He was starting to suffer with cramp late on, but was still make last-ditch tackles and he played out from the back really well too.
The teenager has shown he play in midfield, but looks really solid in the heart of defence and perhaps Frank Lampard has another young talent that can step up into the first-team at Stamford Bridge.
