Cesc Fabregas has explained he’s a massive fan of Hakim Ziyech, who he believes is such an important part of Chelsea trying to build a top team.
Ziyech, 27, has made a strong start to his Blues career since he joined from Ajax in the summer transfer window, even though the deal was agreed back in February.
The left-footed attacker was missing at the beginning of the campaign with a knee injury, but since his introduction to the Chelsea side he’s delivered a couple of man of the match performances and looked like a real talisman.
He’s a right-winger that already has two goals and three assists under his belt, with the team still unbeaten with him in the side.
The Morocco international appears to be stepping up as the chief creator in Frank Lampard’s XI and the set-piece specialist puts top-class deliveries into the box consistently.
Fabregas, who won two Premier League titles during his spell as a Chelsea player, believes that having someone who can open up a defence like Ziyech is exactly the type of figure that the Blues have been crying out for.
“He’s a very good player (Ziyech). He has this vision that you need in a top team like Chelsea, who want to win and be champions,” Fabregas told 90min.
“You could see that they were lacking ideas last season and maybe at the beginning of this season, but with Ziyech, you can see that he has this last pass. It’s not only that he sees it, it’s that he makes it right, at the right time. That’s the decision-making that we talk about nowadays.”
With so much pace and dynamism in the final third for Chelsea, Ziyech is the composer putting everything together and the early signs of his Stamford Bridge career has the entire fanbase extremely excited.
He’s proven himself on the Champions League stage before with Ajax and his task now is to try dictate games against the top sides in the Premier League.
