Chelsea attacker Callum Hudson-Odoi insists he’s getting more confident
Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi has insisted that he’s confident in his game right now, as well as claiming he’s desperate to prove his ability on the pitch.
Hudson-Odoi, 20, is a major talent to come out of the Blues academy and he’s shown what he can do in glimpses so far this season.
The £120,000-a-week star (Spotrac) is on a huge contract at Stamford Bridge but is a skilful winger that can hurt defenders one-on-one and he’s already made his senior England debut.
He’s yet to cement his spot in Frank Lampard’s XI, but so far this season has managed four goals in 15 appearances across all competitions.
It’s been a tough road for Hudson_Odoi to go back to his best after missing a huge chunk of 2019 with an Achilles injury, but he now feels extremely confident with himself.
“I feel like I’m getting more confident day by day, I feel like I’m getting over my injury much more now, and I’m feeling more free,” Hudson said, as quoted by the club’s official website.
“I’m confident in what I’m doing, and now I need to keep working hard, keep showing myself on the pitch and keep proving that I can become better and better.”
Hudson-Odoi was a bright spark off the bench in the weekend’s defeat to Manchester City, as he popped up with a goal and added some real energy in the final third.
With Chelsea struggling massively for results right now, his directness and pace could be exactly what Lampard needs in his XI to try lift everyone.
He’s one of the rising stars to come through the academy and it may be the case that the best is yet to come from him, especially as he’s still aged just 20.
