Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed (official Twitter) a real boost ahead of his side’s clash against Bayern Munich, as both N’Golo Kante and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are fit to start the contest.

The Blues have travelled to Germany for the second leg of their last 16 Champions League tie against Bayern and effectively can have a free swing at it.

Chelsea trail by a three-goal aggregate scoreline and it’s going to take something special to beat the Bundesliga champions, something that is made even harder by the absences of key players such as Christian Pulisic and Cesar Azpilicueta due to injury.

But Lampard has given some good news to Chelsea fans by revealing that midfield duo Kante and Loftus-Cheek are ready to return to the starting XI.

Kante was an unused substitute in the FA Cup final defeat to Arsenal last weekend and is returning from an injury, but his return to the side will be a massive boost to the team as on his day he’s shown he is the best defensive midfielder around.

The 29-year-old will have to be at his best to contain a powerful Bayern midfield and it is a great sight to see him back in contention, with Lampard surely set to throw him into the XI.

Meanwhile, Loftus-Cheek missed the Arsenal loss altogether with injury, but his return in a game that Chelsea need to score goals is another boost.

It will be a surprise if the 24-year-old starts the contest, but expect to see him play a role in the second-half at a time when the Blues need to go all out.
