Chelsea’s Under-18 side recorded an emphatic win in the FA Youth Cup on Saturday afternoon – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter were in awe of the display from their youngster Jude Soonsup-Bell.
Ed Brand’s young Blues side beat opponents Barnsley 8-1 at Kingsmeadow, as some of the club’s extraordinary rising stars got the chance to impress and help the team progress to the fourth round of the competition.
There were so many eye-catching performances in the weekend’s fixture, but it was centre-forward Soonsup-Bell that certainly stole the show.
Soonsup-Bell scored four goals in his brilliant individual performance, which makes him the first Chelsea player to net four in the FA Youth Cup for 59 years.
Aged 16, the English striker ran riot in the final third by showing a great display of finishing, including a superb fourth goal that he managed to backheel into the net after dribbling centrally to the box from the byline.
He’s been in strong goalscoring form for Chelsea’s Under-18 side already this season and his cup display will only bring even more attention to him.
A selection of Blues supporters were amazed by Soonsup-Bell’s match-winning performance, with one jokingly stating he could be Chelsea’s version of Borussia Dortmund’s 20-year-old powerhouse Erling Braut Haaland.
