Carlos Soler opened the scoring for the Spanish hosts in the 40th minute, but Frank Lampard’s side responded immediately with an equaliser before half-time.

Christian Pulisic then put the visitors in front in the 50th minute with a close-range finish, which was given after some help from VAR.

Kepa Arrizabalaga’s penalty save afterwards looked to have given the English team three points, but Daniel Wass’ 82nd minute cross ended up in the back of the net to leave the group poised.

Chelsea will now be hoping to beat Lille at Stamford Bridge in their final group fixture.
