Chelsea fans applaud Callum Hudson-Odoi for his display against Wolves

Chelsea marked the Thomas Tuchel era with a goalless draw at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday – but some of the club’s supporters on Twitter were extremely upbeat with the performance of Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The Blues were held to a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge, as they came up against a Wolves side that defended resiliently.

Despite Frank Lampard’s sacking only being announced a few days ago, new German manager Tuchel was in the dugout to take charge of Chelsea in the Premier League fixture.

It was a match where they dominated the ball with an astonishing 79 per cent possession, but they struggled to carve out too many clearcut chances.

Mateo Kovacic saw one effort go just past the post in the second-half, while Kai Havertz also had a goal-bound header blocked in stoppage time.

Despite dropping a further two points in the league, a selection of Chelsea fans on social media loved what they saw from Hudson-Odoi.

The 20-year-old speedster was used in an unfamiliar wing-back role, albeit he spent most of the game in the opposition’s half and had to show one piece of defensive prowess to deny a late Wolves counter-attack.

He looked the most threatening on his side by showing real intent on the ball and driving at his defender, but just couldn’t quite find the end product.

The English wide player may have been frustrated that Olivier Giroud couldn’t reach his dangerous cross in the early stages.
