It seems like a lifetime ago since Ruben Loftus-Cheek was injured in the most frustrating of circumstances. A serious injury in a pre-season friendly, before the season, was over. His comeback has been a long time coming, and fans are now begging for his return.
The midfield maestro was finally becoming a key part of the Chelsea team towards the back end of last season but was cruelly struck down by a nasty Achilles tendon rupture.
Fans have been keen to see Loftus-Cheek back in the side for several months but the performance in the 1-0 defeat to West Ham has only heightened the desperation for his return.
The Blues seemed to lack a cutting edge against the Hammers. Despite having over 65% possession in the game, Chelsea could not make it count and only threatened the opponents’ goal on a few occasions.
Many feel that the re-introduction of RLC would bring a new level of dynamism in the midfield. His ability to carry the ball beat a man and quickly turn defence into attack could be crucial to the way Lampard is looking to play.
Although the likes of Kovacic, Jorginho, and Mount are enjoying good seasons so far, Loftus-Cheek is different from them all and could add a new dimension to this exciting Chelsea side.
The midfielder has been active on social media and posted an encouraging clip at the weekend of him working with the physio.

When speaking to Versus a month ago, Loftus Cheek gave an update on his recovery, saying: ”I’m close now…I’ve been running and moving, I feel I’m right on the edge. I’m close and I can’t wait.”
The English midfielder will be back in action soon, and Chelsea fans cannot wait. Here is some of the fans posts on Twitter:
Ruben Loftus-Cheek with Mateo Kovacic could be the biggest thing to happen to this planet since sliced bread.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek should come back even if it means playing with just one leg

Ruben Loftus-Cheek easily solves two of these problems: he can generate energy in the final third, and also provide exquisite transitional play.

Reece James and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are our most talented academy graduates in my eyes. Can't wait to have both of them on the field.
