Frank Lampard’s side have sneaked into the knockout rounds in second at the expense of Ajax and will now wait to see who they draw in the last-16.

Tammy Abraham’s close-range finish opened the scoring in the 19th minute and it was his 13th goal of the season across all competitions.

Captain Cesar Azpilicueta then added a second goal with a powerful header from a corner and Chelsea were cruising at Stamford Bridge towards a win.

After missing a number of goalscoring opportunities, ex-Blues forward Loic Remy smashed in a left-footed goal in the 78th minute to set up a tense finale and a second Lille goal would have seen Lampard’s team drop down into the Europa League.

They managed to hold on for an important win and now turn their attention to hosting Bournemouth at the weekend in the Premier League.

A selection of of Chelsea supporters on social media are concerned about Hudson-Odoi after he made a quiet appearance from the bench.

The left-winger has found himself slip behind both Christian Pulisic and Willian in the pecking order, so he has to make the most of opportunities on the pitch.

He failed to inject a spark of quality against vulnerable opposition, with his only highlight a powerful shot that was blocked.

The 19-year-old is struggling to get back to his best since a return from injury and isn’t in favour right now, but he’s still an incredible talent with raw potential and surely he still has a big role to play moving forward.
