Billy Gilmour has been included in the starting XI to face Manchester United on Wednesday night – and some Chelsea fans on Twitter are excited by the decision.

Blues manager Frank Lampard has decided to throw the 18-year-old into his side that host United at Stamford Bridge in the last-16 of the Carabao Cup.

Chelsea beat Burnley 4-2 at Turf Moor at the weekend and there are six changes from the team that started that Premier League fixture.

The West London club go into the cup tie on the back of seven consecutive victories across all competitions and they have started to find top form.

But they did lose to United 4-0 away on the opening day of the league season and should be looking for revenge.

Gilmour is an exciting youngster that has been around the senior Chelsea group this season and made his two first-team appearances under Lampard.

The Scottish teenager impressed in the third round of the cup when he played the full game against Grimsby Town and has also made a brief league debut off the bench against Sheffield United.

He is a central midfielder that does have the experience of Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho alongside him against United, which is going to be a huge help in the centre of the park.
