Chelsea welcome West Ham to Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have rallied together to demand Olivier Giroud is recalled to the side.

Frank Lampard’s side host an out-of-form West Ham in the Premier League and three points would help consolidate the spot in the top four.

The Blues recorded a 2-2 away draw against Valencia in midweek, which means their Champions League destiny is still in their own hands in the group stage.

But it came at a cost following an injury to star centre-forward Tammy Abraham, who was forced off the pitch at half-time with a suspected rib problem.

Lampard has confirmed (official website) that Abraham is unavailable for the weekend and they will have to wait longer to find out the full extent of his injury.

Chelsea will need to go in search of a win without their leading scorer and it will be intriguing to see who leads the line in his absence.

Micky Batshuayi has been the second-choice option recently for the West London club and he did replace Abraham in Valencia.

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media have suggested that Giroud would be the strong replacement and that he should start against West Ham.

The 33-year-old has only played six times across all competitions so far this campaign and slipped down the pecking order.

His last start came back in August and a recall would be quite the shock, but some feel he’s the right man for the job and that the Frenchman needs to be thrown a lifeline by Lampard.
