Chelsea secured a much-needed victory away to Fulham on Saturday evening – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter picked out defender Antonio Rudiger as a real positive from the result.
The Blues earned a narrow 1-0 win at Craven Cottage against London rivals Fulham, which brought them three points in the Premier League.
In a fairly even first-half, Antonee Robinson was shown a straight red card at the end of it for Fulham, after he lunged in at Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta.
Frank Lampard’s side had to be patient when trying to get past the Fulham resistance in the second-half, but eventually Mason Mount popped up with his second league goal of the season with a tidy finish into the bottom corner.
The result means Chelsea are seventh in the table and it was the perfect response to three league games on the spin without a win.
A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media believe that Rudiger was a standout against Fulham.
It was a rare outing for the 27-year-old centre-back, who made just his third league appearance of the season.
He slotted in effortlessly alongside Thiago Silva in the heart of the defence and fortunately the pair weren’t too busy in the second period.
