Hakim Ziyech returned to competitvie action during the international break – and some Chelsea fans on Twitter praised their player for his performance off the bench.

The left-footer was substituted on in the second-half during Morocco’s 3-1 win over Senegal, but those were his first competitive minutes since March when he was still at Ajax.

He assisted one of his nation’s goals with a brilliant free-kick that was weighted over the opposition’s defence and it’s something that Chelsea should see plenty of this season from the set-piece specialist.

Ziyech was primed to start the new season for the Blues before suffering an injury in a pre-season match, but it looks like he’ll be in contention after the international break to make his official debut for the club.

The 27-year-old is a new signing that supporters are desperate to see in action and he’s had to watch on from the sidelines while Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva and Edouard Mendy all make their Chelsea debuts.

He is a skilful right-winger that can also be used in a central position and it will be intriguing to see how Lampard fits him into his plans.

Ziyech is an assist king that directly set up 82 goals in 165 appearances for Dutch giants Ajax and he’s likely to bring some more creativity to Stamford Bridge.

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media were thrilled to see Ziyech back in action for his country and are expecting big things from him when he puts on the blue shirt, with one comparing him to the club’s former maestro Cesc Fabregas.

Here are some Blues fans discussing the winger:
