Chelsea fans praise Lewis Bate after his Under-23s performance

Chelsea’s Under-23s side recorded a brilliant comeback victory against Tottenham on Monday night – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter were majorly impressed with the performance of their promising youngster Lewis Bate.

The Blues team, which included veteran and club icon goalkeeper Petr Cech in the starting XI, overturned a two-goal deficit to win 3-2 in a Premier League 2 fixture.

Andy Myers’ side produced a remarkable second-half performance at Kingsmeadow to earn three points, with goals from Myles Peart-Harris (two) and Marcel Lewis.

It was an all-action London derby that also saw Danny Drinkwater and Alfie Devine sent off in the closing stages.

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

Despite all the obvious attention on Cech’s appearance, a selection of Chelsea supporters on social media believe that their academy star Bate was one of the standout individuals against Spurs.

The 18-year-old has cemented himself as a regular in the Blues youth team this season and many believe he should be knocking on the door for what would be a first senior appearance.

He is a central midfielder by trade that is diminutive in size, but a technical player that is great in possession and has been compared to Billy Gilmour.

Here are some Blues fans discussing Bate:
