Chelsea fans praise loanee Mario Pasalic after Champions League goal

Mario Pasalic impressed for Atalanta on Wednesday night in the Champions League group stages – and some Chelsea fans on Twitter were raving about the performance of their loanee.

Pasalic has been on the books at Stamford Bridge since 2014, but never played a first-team game for the Blues and spent his time out on loan at five different clubs.

The Croatian midfielder spent last season out on loan with Serie A outfit Atalanta, where he made quite the impact.

He signed a new Chelsea deal until 2022 in the summer, before re-signing for Italian club Atalanta on loan and he’s an important player for them.

Pasalic scored a thunderous header on Wednesday to help his side draw 1-1 at home to Premier League champions Manchester City in the Champions League group stages.

He’s a central midfielder that offers a real goal threat when he pushes forward and can fill a box-to-box role.

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media were impressed with what they saw from Pasalic and feel he could have a future in Frank Lampard’s team.

He’s a member of the loan army that has gone completely under the radar and Blues supporters could be forgiven for not knowing him, but he’s been playing to a great standard during the last year with Atalanta.

There is already immense competition in the centre of the park within Lampard’s squad, but it would intriguing to know if Lampard is monitoring the Serie A star.

Here are some Chelsea fans on Pasalic:

Dom is a Chelsea supporter who has worked in online publishing for more than six years. Graduated from Staffordshire University in 2016, he now writes exclusively for The Chelsea Chronicle covering news, analysis and match coverage. He enjoys the dream position of writing about his boyhood club, which seems to be involved in more drama every single day than an episode of The Bill. Aside from his love for Chelsea, he supports and follows the England cricket team. He also fancies himself as the Sunday League version of Michael Essien.
