Chelsea had to settle for a point on their trip to Southampton on Saturday afternoon – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter picked out midfielder N’Golo Kante as a real big positive from the weekend result.

The Blues came from behind to draw 1-1 at St Mary’s in the Premier League fixture against a struggling Southampton team.

Despite dominating the ball for pretty much the entire game, on-loan Liverpool attacker Takumi Minamino opened the scoring in the first half with a composed finish against goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

Chelsea fought back through Mason Mount’s penalty early in the second half, but they were wasteful in the final third and failed to convert their chances.

They remain unbeaten since Tuchel’s arrival, and now face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

Unfortunately, it will feel like two points dropped against an opposition that were massively struggling with five consecutive defeats in the league.

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media believe that central midfielder Kante was extremely effective on his return to the starting XI.

The 29-year-old Frenchman helped break up Southampton counter-attacks on several occasions, but couldn’t quite find the killer pass.
