Chelsea progressed to the FA Cup quarter-finals with a narrow 1-0 win over Championship opposition Barnsley – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter picked out Tammy Abraham for huge praise.

The Blues certainly weren’t anywhere near their fluent best on their trip to Oakwell to face Barnsley, but got over the line eventually in a scrappy fashion.

Abraham was the match-winner for the Premier League outfit, as he tapped into the net from close range to convert a cross from substitute Reece James.

Thomas Tuchel’s side are now five games unbeaten in all competitions since he took charge at Stamford Bridge as the manager, but it wasn’t anywhere near a vintage display against a Barnsley team that did cause problems, especially in the first-half.

There were 10 changes made to the starting XI from the Premier League win over Sheffield United from the weekend, with several players failing to make the most of their opportunity in the team.

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media felt that Abraham stood out in a positive way during the 90 minutes for them.

The English centre-forward popped up with the decisive goal for his team, but also produced a memorable goal-line clearance to prevent Barnsley from getting an equaliser and sending the contest to extra time.

It was a match where several of the players struggled to find their best form, but the striker battled away all over the park and got his reward.
