Tariq Lamptey scored two goals for Chelsea’s Under-21s side on Tuesday night in a defeat – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter raved about his display.

Lamptey scored twice inside the opening 10 minutes to give the Blues a commanding lead, but a second-half comeback from the League Two side meant they ended up losing 3-2.

The full-back raced onto a long through ball in the opening stages to jab the ball past the goalkeeper and tap into an unguarded net.

His second strike came soon after and he lifted the ball into the net with his left foot after a positive passing move in the penalty area.

Lamptey may have ended up on the losing side in midweek, but once again enhanced his reputation and showed how good he is going forward.

His blistering pace was too much for Walsall to handle when he went flying forward and he showed end product too.

He is a regular in the Chelsea Under-23s side this season and is an attack-minded right-back tipped for great things in the future.

Frank Lampard’s yet to give him his senior debut, but did include him on the bench back in April against Manchester United and it seems he’s knocking on the door.

Unfortunately he does have Reece James and Cesar Azpilicueta as senior right-backs in the Chelsea squad to try bridge the gap too.

Here are some Chelsea fans praising Lamptey after Tuesday night’s display:
