Hakim Ziyech has been called up to the Morocco squad for the upcoming international break – and some Chelsea fans on Twitter have voiced their concern about the announcement.

The 27-year-old joined up with the Blues squad at the beginning of pre-season and there has been real excitement about his arrival, after the club announced his signing from Ajax back in February.

But an injury in a friendly match against Brighton means that he’s still yet to make his Chelsea debut and has had to watch on from the sidelines at the beginning of the campaign.

Chelsea fans are desperately waiting to see him in action for the first time in competitive action and have seen he’s back in training.

He is a skilful left-footer that likes to cut inside from the right flank and has been one of the outstanding players in Holland during the past few years, as well as proving himself on the Champions League stage.

The attacker played 35 games across all competitions last season, scoring eight goals and supplying 21 assists.

A selection of Blues fans on social media are frustrated with news that Ziyech is named in the 26-man international squad, as they fear he could aggravate an injury.

Morocco play against Senegal on 9 October and DR Congo on 13 October.
