Antonio Rudiger completed 90 minutes in Germany’s Nations League fixture on Saturday night – and some Chelsea fans on Twitter were left stunned at their player’s assist.

The Blues defender is yet to play a single minute at the beginning of the new domestic season, but he was involved for national side Germany over the weekend in their 2-1 away victory against Ukraine.

Manager Frank Lampard now has five first-team centre-backs to pick from in his squad and it looks like Rudiger has been pushed right down the pecking order.

The 27-year-old has been missing from all but one of the Chelsea matchday squads so far this campaign, which is a surprise considering he started the final three league games of last season.

He is a no-nonsense centre-back that can make the odd individual mistake, but he’s made 115 appearances for Chelsea and is a senior member of a young dressing room at Stamford Bridge.

Rudiger got some much-needed game-time on the international stage and one individual moment got supporters talking on social media.

The Blues defender managed to turn away from defenders on the edge of the box and dribble into the penalty area, before drilling in a cross that was tucked home by Matthias Ginter.

It was very out of character from the Chelsea star, but the club’s fans loved it on Twitter:
