Chelsea posted on Twitter the return of midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek to first-team training on Friday – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter were over the moon with the news.
The 24-year-old has not played a single minute this season after suffering a ruptured achilles back in May last year.
But Frank Lampard confirmed (official Twitter) that the midfielder was back in training with the senior group for the first time after stepping up his comeback with the academy side.
Loftus-Cheek has had to be patient watching on from the sidelines, but there are certainly positive signs now he is kicking a ball again.
The central midfielder scored 10 goals in 40 games across all competitions last season and there should be so much to come from him at Stamford Bridge.
He is a real powerhouse that will add so much to the Blues team when available again and he’s another that has come out of the academy.
There is so much potential to work with when it comes to Loftus-Cheek and he just needs the injury luck now to be able to flourish.
He has been earned 10 senior caps for England and hopefully a strong second half of the season with Chelsea can force his way into Gareth Southgate’s summer squad for the European Championships.
A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media went wild over the Twitter post of Loftus-Cheek training with the main group.
Here are some Blues fans commenting:
