Chelsea fans react to reported contract plans with Antonio Rudiger
Chelsea are reportedly looking at sorting out a new contract for Antonio Rudiger before the end of the season – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have reacted to the speculation.
The Daily Mail explains that Chelsea were previously looking at possibly selling him, with plans to extend his current contract beyond 2022 and then cash in on him.
It is understood that now the Blues will accelerate talks over a new deal for a different reason.
The report states that they want to secure his future with a new contract before the European Championships. If he impresses with his national side Germany this summer, there are fears clubs could pounce on his signature as he’d have just one year left on his Stamford Bridge deal.
Rudiger, 28, has come in from the fringes since Thomas Tuchel took charge as the new manager.
He’s been a fairly regular starter in defence, finding some real consistent form as the left-sided centre-back in a back three.
A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media agree that the powerhouse is worthy of a contract extension due to his improved form.
One pointed out how quickly his fortunes have turned around.
