Fulham manager Scott Parker recently snubbed Ruben Loftus-Cheek by leaving him on the bench in the Premier League – and some Chelsea fans gave a worried response on Twitter.

Loftus-Cheek is a highly-rated talent to come out of the Blues academy, but he’s been plagued by injuries in his career and he was sent on a season-long loan this year to Craven Cottage to try help him get back on track.

The 24-year-old had previously started back-to-back league games for Fulham following his loan arrival, but on Monday night he was an unused substitute in a 2-0 victory over West Brom.

He is an all-action attacking midfielder that is mainly used in areas up the pitch right now, but he’s fallen a long way from the player that was part of England’s World Cup squad in 2018.

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media are suggesting it’s a long road back for him to break back into Frank Lampard’s side, as it’s telling that he can’t nail down a starting position for a Fulham team likely to be fighting relegation in the Premier League this season.

But Fulham boss Scott Parker has given assurances that Loftus-Cheek’s absence doesn’t mean he won’t be vital moving froward.

“Ruben had been out for a long time, came into the club late and has played two games,” Parker said, as quoted by West London Sport.

“Ruben will have a lot of game time this year and he’ll bring his quality and will have a lot to offer. He’ll help us moving forward, no doubt. He didn’t start this one but he’ll have a big part to play.”
