Chelsea have reportedly inquired about signing Brighton’s centre-back Lewis Dunk. The links with the 28-year-old are causing some debate among some fans on Twitter.

The Times has reported that the London club have made an initial inquiry about signing the defender and that the Seagulls are demanding £50 million for his services.

Lampard is keen to sign defensive reinforcements this month after a shaky first half of the season at the back. Dunk is the latest name to be mentioned and would no doubt bring some much-needed experience and steel to the Chelsea defence.

The report states that Brighton would not block a move, but only if their valuation of the defender is met.

The Englishman has got one cap with the national side and is a key part of a Brighton side currently sat 14th in the Premier League. He can also have an impact in an attacking sense. Dunk has scored twice this season and provided a further three assists – an impressive total from centre-back.

Some Chelsea fans feel his age does not mirror his value. He is 28-years-old and £50 million for a player of that age seems very steep.

Other fans believe that Dunk would be a great signing. They feel that he has the quality to start in the current Chelsea back-line and that he would be an instant improvement on the players the club currently has available in defence.

Here are some Chelsea fans on Twitter reacting to the speculation:
