Chelsea begin their Premier League season away to Brighton on Monday – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have urged manager Frank Lampard to start young attacker Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The Blues will watch some of their rivals start the new season over the weekend and will patiently have to wait until Monday night for their trip to the Amex Stadium, where they recently drew 1-1 in a pre-season fixture.

After a fourth-placed finish in the league last season, Chelsea go into the new term with far greater expectations due to the impressive business completed in the summer transfer window so far.

They will be part of a chasing pack trying to hunt down reigning league champions Liverpool, who steamrolled their way to the title last season in emphatic fashion.

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media have been discussing the upcoming Brighton fixture and have pleased for academy graduate Hudson-Odoi to be put in the starting XI.

The 19-year-old speedster is a big favourite with the club’s fanbase and has shown in the past couple of seasons on the first-team stage he’s a massive talent.

He is a skilful winger that managed three goals and six assists during the last campaign for Chelsea, but now needs to try nail down a starting position in the side and put in more consistent performances.

New signing Hakim Ziyech from Ajax is expected to be a regular on the right flank when fit, but he will miss the opening game of the season against Brighton.
