Chelsea host West Ham on Monday night in the Premier League – and some of the Blues fans on Twitter have responded by suggesting that Jorginho should be recalled to the side.
After back-to-back defeats in the league, Frank Lampard’s men face a huge fixture in two days time at Stamford Bridge against London rivals West Ham.
They will be aware that they’ve won just once in their previous six league fixtures against West Ham, but desperately need three points after slipping down the league table and they are threatening to ruin a fairly solid start.
A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media have claimed that Jorginho is one player that should be in contention to feature.
The 28-year-old Italian is a senior member of the Blues squad and is someone that can help set the tempo in the midfield with his range of passing, first touch and composure.
He’s played in 14 games across all competitions so far this campaign, but he’s not started in the league since October and most of his minutes have come in the Champions League group stages.
It would be a big call to bring him back into the XI against a West Ham side that are combative in the middle with Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek.
But central midfielder Jorginho is waiting patiently for his chance to impress again in the league and it’ll be interesting to see if manager Lampard considers a switch to try spark a turn in fortune.
