Chelsea fans wowed by 29-year-old’s display in Crystal Palace win

Chelsea recorded an emphatic 4-1 victory away to Crystal Palace on Saturday evening – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter picked out their midfielder Jorginho as a real key performer.

The Blues returned to winning ways in the Premier League by turning on the style at Selhurst Park, with a victory that temporarily lifted them to fourth in the table.

Thomas Tuchel’s side went into the match under pressure after the hammering they received against West Brom in the previous league game, albeit they beat Porto in a Champions League quarter final first leg in midweek.

An eye-catching first-half performance from Chelsea gave them a three-goal lead at half time against Crystal Palace. Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic and Kurt Zouma were all on the scoresheet in the opening half an hour.

Christian Benteke pulled one back for hosts Palace in the 63rd minute, but Pulisic netted his second of the game afterwards to finish the match.

Chelsea showed the kind of attacking intent that has been missing for parts of this season, and there was a great intensity in the way they went forward at times.

A selection of Blues supporters on social media believe that it was Jorginho in the centre of the park that really helped set the tone.

The 29-year-old won’t get the headlines like some of the goalscorers, but he was superb in possession like always, as well as sharp with his defensive work off the ball.
