Journalist Tom Roddy has claimed that Chelsea are set to be handed automatic entry into the upcoming new-look Club World Cup.
The Blues finally added the trophy to their collection last season, defeating Palmeiras 2-1 in the final.
Goals from Romelu Lukaku and a late Kai Havertz penalty were enough for the club, who secured the final honour that had not yet been achieved under the tenure of former owner Roman Abramovich.

The tournament is set to change from its usual format in the coming years. Up until now, only the continental champions have been allowed to enter, bringing an obvious advantage to the side who enter from Europe as a result of winning the Champions League.
In 2025, the competition is set to feature 32 teams, making it a far more coveted prize.
Chelsea guaranteed Club World Cup entry
Roddy has claimed that Chelsea are set to be guaranteed a place in the inaugural version of the competition, following their victory in the Champions League back in 2021.
He said: “FIFA Council set to approve the qualifying criteria for enhanced 2025 Club World Cup today.
“Chelsea and Real Madrid will be guaranteed a place in 32-team tournament as winners of 2021 and 2022 Champions Leagues respectively.”

With more than one European team set to be afforded entry, it is likely winning the tournament will come with a lot more plaudits from the football world.
Chelsea fans will be hoping that it does not represent a chance for the first trophy to be won in the Todd Boehly era.
While there is still an opportunity to win the illustrious Champions League this season, the likelihood is this will be a season without silverware for the Blues.
