Conor Gallagher is currently a part of the loan army at Chelsea, perhaps the one individual who is impressing most during his temporary time away from Stamford Bridge.
The English midfielder spent the first half of the season out loan with Charlton Athletic, before moving over to Championship rivals Swansea City for the second half of the campaign.
He’s supplied six assists in just 13 matches since he joined the Welsh outfit to keep them in the play-off conversation, as well as becoming an ever-present in their starting XI and becoming a key performer.
Gallagher is a product of the Blues academy that is extremely highly-rated and has featured on the first-team bench before, but he’s still waiting to make his senior debut for the club.
He has detailed an individual message sent to him from Chelsea’s first-team manager Frank Lampard, which is a huge confidence boost for the loan star.
“Chelsea are always in contact with me. Frank lampard has kept in contact a little bit. He sent me a message to keep up the good work, so that’s always nice to hear,” he told WhoScored.
“I think he’ll keep in close contact with every loan player because that’s the type of manager he is. He likes the young players and to bring them through, so yeah it makes everyone hopeful whose on loan. It’s very exciting.”
Chelsea’s focus on youth has certainly been a popular topic of conversation this season, with of course the likes of Mason Mount, Reece James, Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori and Billy Gilmour all integrated to the main group.
Despite the exciting new arrivals at Stamford Bridge in the form of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech, there is certainly plenty more upcoming talent that could make the step up moving forward.
Gallagher will receive a considerable lift from Lampard and it’s yet another sign of his brilliant man-management.
The 20-year-old can certainly be compared to Mount in his style of play and it will be intriguing to see where his future lies next season.
